Days ago, actress Ibinabo Fiberesima was left devastated after a court of Appeal upheld her five-year jail sentence for the death of Dr. Giwa Suraj and critics have decided to slam actor and President of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN) Emeka Ike for the actress’ present predicament.
According to reports, the actor had anonymously penned an article about Justice for Dr. Suraj Giwa. That article had been alleged to fuel the recent charges against Ibinabo.
Emeka Ike and Ibinabo have been feuding since the actor became the president of the Actor’s Guild and only recently, Emeka Ike accused the actress of impersonating him by stating she was still the president of the union.
In a recent interview with Nollywood Insider, the actor addressed the claims that he was the reason why the actress’ appeal had been dismissed. The father of four stated that he never wished for Ibinabo to be jailed. He also stated that he was not rejoicing about her sentence just because they had unresolved issues.
“I should not be assumed to be happy with the present travail of Ibinabo Fiberesima. We are in court on the matter of our guild, the Actor’s guild of Nigeria. Not on the issue of death or a motor accident. I don’t wish jail for her.”
He also added that Ibinabo had been impersonating him and that if she had a case and was jailed for it, it had nothing to do with him.
Ibinabo was sentenced to 5 years in prison for the death of Dr. Suraj in a car accident 10 years ago.
