Victor Ibeh, 18, and Tony Ezelioha, 19, two teenage boys who allegedly gang raped their ‘Facebook friend‘ on Monday, March 27, have been released after they each bailed themselves with N450,000 each.
The teenage boys were also mandated to provide two sureties each to perfect their bail. According to Magistrate Alexander Komolafe of the Ikeja Magistrate Court, one of the sureties must be a religious leader in Lagos while the other must own a property within the court’s jurisdiction, Punch Reports.
Ibeh and Ezelioha both reside in Ayobo, near Iyana-Ipaja in Lagos, and are facing a three-count charge bordering on assault and rape. The prosecutor, Sgt Joseph Ajeba, told the court that the victim and complainant had been friends on Facebook with one of the accused, Ibeh, for two years. So, when he invited her to visit, she obliged.
But when the victim got to the accused’s house, No 12 Fadairo St. Ayobo, she discovered what he and his accomplice wanted to do and attempted to flee but the accused overpowered her and raped her.
The accused raped her several times anally and later dumped her in the street when they were through,” Sgt Ajeba told the court.
The offences contravene Sections 137, 259 and 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos with Section 259 specifically prescribing life imprisonment as punishment.
