After Barcelona’s historic comeback win over Paris Saint Germain in the Champions League Wednesday, talisman Lionel Messi has taken the time to shower praise on his beloved club.
In a rare show of exuberance on Thursday, the usually stolid Argentine sent a rallying cry to his teammates as their season suddenly springs back to life after recent fears of a crisis, SuperSport.com writes.
The five-time ballon d’Or winner scored Barca’s third goal from the penalty spot as the Spanish champions struck three times in the final seven minutes to qualify for the last eight for a record 10th straight year.
“When there’s effort, attitude and desire, NOTHING is impossible,” Messi posted on his official Facebook page.
“Impressive stuff from the team and our fans.”
Messi, who made way for protégé Neymar to run the show in the final stages of the match, jumped into the crowd amid delirious scenes when substitute Sergi Roberto grabbed Barca’s sixth and decisive goal in the 95th minute.
The Barca talisman was then penned in at the Camp Nou by ecstatic fans as he tried to leave hours after the game.
“Messi, Messi, Messi,” they cried, in show of adulation for their messianic playmaker after a night that would go down in the annals of the beautiful game.
